Banh Oui is a community-driven, fast-and-fresh restaurant nestled in the heart of Hollywood. Chef Casey Felton’s passion for food, combined with her Los Angeles upbringing and diverse culinary experiences have culminated in the success of Banh Oui and awarded her a semi-finalist James Beard nomination in 2022 for their Emerging Chef category. Banh Oui’s menu is a testament to the versatility of the bánh mi and adaptability of diverse backgrounds in Los Angeles.

Casey Felton

Banh Oui started after a decade of working in the kitchen both here in Los Angeles and abroad in Sydney, Australia. When customers ask Casey about the menu, she tells them that as with most creative endeavors, the menu reflects her childhood more specifically her upbringing in Los Angeles and as a daughter to a Japanese transplant.

Chef Casey’s mom is originally from Tokyo Japan, and when she moved to America, one way for her to learn English was to enroll in different cooking classes. She's an incredible cook. She would cook Middle Eastern, Mexican, Chinese and American dinners during her upbringing, a great way to get the whole family to sit down at the dinner table together.

Banh Oui is inspired by banh mi sandwiches. In one sandwich, you get all the elements that Casey looks for in a dish. It has spice, pickles, fresh herbs, and a "meaty" element to create a beautiful balance in one bite. Every dish on the menu mimics these same flavors, because they're the flavors she grew up eating, studying and cooking.

We refer to Danny as our “rico suave” of Banh Oui. Danny loves the finer things in life, including designer clothing, craft beer and a good book. When not at work, Danny is usually hiking California’s trails. His favorite food is anything beef. MOOOOOOO #meatlover

Carlos from day one reminded us that when at work, we work. If you get him to laugh, you might also get him to share his love for soccer, Marvel movies, and his two teenage daughters. His favorite food is carne asada. #spicy

Ibania has an addictive energy. If you’re in the same room with her, you always want to be by her and talking to her. She’s got the best sense of humor, and takes care of all of us with her laughter, cooking, and positivity. When not at work, she spends time with her daughter, loves dancing, and doesn’t mind a beer or two. #goals
